Jennifer Phelps is an experienced litigator who represents corporate clients in complex civil litigation, with a current focus on consumer financial litigation and the defense of claims under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and related state laws.
Jennifer began her career in complex litigation with Bingham McCutchen in Los Angeles and later practiced with Baker & Daniels in Indianapolis. Her private-practice experience includes commercial disputes, patent and other intellectual property litigation, product liability, class actions, and appellate matters. She has represented technology companies, manufacturers, financial-services businesses, healthcare providers, and medical-device companies in federal and state courts across the country.
Jennifer also brings substantial in-house experience to her litigation practice. She served as General Counsel of USA Football and later as Senior Corporate Counsel for dormakaba Americas. In those roles, she managed significant litigation, worked closely with outside counsel on litigation strategy and resolution, and advised senior business leaders and boards on commercial, regulatory, governance, insurance, and enterprise-risk matters. That experience gives Jennifer a practical understanding of litigation from the client’s perspective and informs an approach focused not only on the legal issues presented by a case, but also on the client’s broader business objectives and risk.
Jennifer previously served as an adjunct professor at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, where she taught upper-level courses in Public Health Law and Law & Religion.
